CV PREPARATION

PREPARING YOUR CV

Your CV is the first formal introduction to you as a potential employee and helps to show a firm what you have to offer. It’s important to make the right impression from the outset. CVs should never be more than two sides of A4 and should always be tailored carefully to fit the job description.

Find out more from your recruitment consultant about the values and culture of the firm and try to reflect these in your CV. Begin with a single paragraph summarising your key attributes then list each of your previous roles, beginning with the most recent one first.

While academic achievements and professional experience are important, employers will also be looking for other qualities and will want to see, for example, that you are a well-rounded individual with good people skills and commercial acumen. Don't just list achievements - point out how they have enhanced your development.

Show your CV to your recruitment consultant and ask for their professional advice.
